Key Actions for the Eastern Marine Network Members

Glendowie Boating Club

  • Ensure continued access to the sea by preserving the seaside infrastructure (ramp and car park) around the club 

  • Progress work to retain cliffs at Anderson and Karaka Bay

  • Install better changing and toilet facilities and a jetty at Andersons Bay for public use 


Kohimarama Yacht Club

  • Support for developing a boat storage ramp to be built on the eastern side of the ramp 

  • Support for ongoing major events to be hosted at Kohi at minimal cost to youth participants

  • Support for ongoing storage of safety boats at Madills Farm (including in association with, plans by the Eastern Soccer club to redevelop facilities at the park)

  • Facilitation of increased storage capacity to support youth sailing 


Tamaki Yacht Club

  • Support for TYCs plans for safe use of the car park and ramp area

  • Support for TYCs ongoing storage of small centreboard sailing boats on site


  • Support TYCs desire to avoid mixing powerboats and sailing boats in a constrained space


  • Support for TYC to obtain up to 6 major events licences per year 

  • Address maintenance / collaborative management of car park area


Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust

  • Greater engagement by Council staff, to support active sport and recreation

  • Confirm the lease on the Auckland Sailing Building in favour of AMST


  • Increase boat storage space at Area 21, 22, 23 of the 2013 Concept Plan


  • Agree to reviewing the 2013 Concept Plan - Pathways to the Sea so that it better provides for the current and future needs of the community  


  • Allocate new dedicated space on the site for ten large waka and twelve small waka 


  • Confirm 650sqm of yard space for Yachting NZ high performance activity


  • Make permanent event space available for sport and recreation uses 


Outboard Boating Club

  • Recognise the role OBC plays in supporting the Marine Sporting activities in the Eastern Bays, including the commitment to Environmental best practice, Gulf Island restoration, Mussel bed restoration, clean water initiatives and Public access to the sea.

  • Achieve a long term agreement for the use of Hakumau Reserve to enable OBC to invest in improving facilities for Public and Member


  • Leverage the regionally important facility established by OBC to deliver a marine sport and recreation precinct that meets the needs of the greater Auckland community
